AMAZING
1st CHEESE BOARD
IKARUS, Salzburg
Yeah... so almost 4 hours in and the Mrs. says, "MORE FOOD!" So out comes the cheese cart (not included in our menu) and away we went picking some cheesy goodness! Our choices: moldy sheep cheese with maple leaf (nutty and beautiful with the red wine we had procured by this part of the dinner), a sharp goat cheese with a smoked pimento red edible outer skin, a spoonful of creamy vacharin-like consistency (to DIE for!) and a tasty classic manchego. After this course, even Mrs. C was crying Uncle. But wait... there's more...
REALLY GOOD
2nd CHEESE BOARD
LH 414, In the sky
Camembert, Bavaria Bluetooth and Sbrinz cheese rolls. A nice dessert substitute with the Rowan berry chutney bringing a nice additional note
3rd CHEESE PLANK
Jamie's Italian Angel, London
A testament to how amazing this location is... as a cheese plate was NOT offered on the menu, the lovely waitress not only made one up (including a fig jelly) but she only charged 4.50 GBP. Beautiful gorgonzola, sharp parmesan, peccorino and homemade crisp bread. Very happy!
4th CHEESE BOARD
Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt, Rottach-Egern
Although we had some 'cheese' last night, it was a great and quite welcomed change to see and enjoy this fantastic selection of local cheeses at breakfast. Again, if possible organic and everything from a hearty, sharp goat cheese to creamy, rich cow milk to raw milk cheeses ( yes we looked death right into the eye at breakfast ;-))
5th CHEESE BOARD
Gourmet Restaurant avui, Fellbach
Last stop on this food tour... THE CHEESE. You know you love it... you know you want it. MORE CHEESE. A good selection, a great fig mustard and a perfect end to this road trip/binge.
