AMAZING
1st GRILLED MONKFISH
Brauereigasthof Hotel Aying, Aying
Mrs. Carastian's main. perfectly grilled monkfish, on a bed of chanterelles, wild asparagus, snow peas, artichokes. what a wonderful and delicious dish. Oh and if you are still undecided - the finishing touch was: Bacon oil.
REALLY GOOD
2nd GRILLED TROUT AND SHRIMP IN MINTY COUSCOUS
Schlosswirtschaft Maxlrain, Tuntenhausen
Dinner was so good the first time, that we decided to come back and try their "Surprise Menu", 3 courses with wine pairing for 55 EUR. Course 1 was actually quite fun and unexpected flavors from a 'Bavarian kitchen' with a pretty tower made out of grilled trout and shrimp, couscous salad and artful dabs of guacamole and sour cream - served with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc.
NOT FOR ME
3rd GRILLED TROUT FILLET WITH SWEET POTATO MASH
Frau Li, München
Mr. & Mrs. C enjoyed a work lunch break together at this casual eatery with fresh made Asian food and no MSG (we've spotted here once before). Mrs. C thought it would be fun to try something not Asian sounding off the lunch special menu - and kinda wish she hadn't. The price was right at 6,80 EUR but the salad was boring, the fish a bit bony and the sweet potato mash a disappointment with too big hunks of chili flakes in there not helping the texture. Such a shame... the teriyaki sauce on the fish was good and the idea of the dish was tasty.
