IKARUS, Salzburg
Gorgeous plating... and a selection of fresh goodies from the sea that did not disappoint. You had a sampling of everything from mussels to prawns to sea urchin to octopus to eel and then some - all marinated in their own juices. Simple. Elegant. Uncomplicated. The best part? Taking turns with Mr. C picking our tasty bite with our surgeon-like tweezers. ;*)
2nd CRABMEAT STUFFED PRETZEL
Chesapeake Landing, Saint Michaels
Genius. Pure genius. something close to perfection between Bavaria and Maryland and not little Carastian - this must be it. Tasty (though slightly chewy) pretzel, stuffed with MD blue crab smothered in cheese (unnecessary) and served with old bay. Heaven on a plate for nine USD.
3rd INSPIRED BY WAY OF ST JAMES
Restaurant Überfahrt, Rottach-Egern
2nd course - A delicate scallop in (and attached) to its natural shell, swimming in a delicate sauce of pine needles extract with local wild mushrooms and parsnips. The pine was very subtle but added a distinct earthiness to this softly sweet sea creature.
