REALLY GOOD
1st SPREADS
Brauereigasthof Hotel Aying, Aying
beginning dinner with the holy trinity: butter, "Obatzda" and Griebenschmalz. Butter doesn't need an explantation but the others might. Obatzda (here a cream version) being a Bavarian classic, with camembert, paprika, onions and Griebenschmalz (cue angels singing) is rendered pork and goose fat, add salt, pepper and grimes . ahh... I'd like another beer.
2nd SPREADS
Gourmet Restaurant avui, Fellbach
Ending our foodcation on a very high note - this gem outside of Stuttgart. Just from the creamy bread spread and AMAZING griebenschmalz (made out of pig fat and crispy pieces of bacon - sounds gross to some but DANG tasty when done right). Mrs. C doesn't usually imbibe on the schmalz, but she was spreading this one left and right.
3rd OBATZDA
Weissenfelder, Vaterstetten
Something light to begin the meal.. Camembert mixed with butter, onions, paprika and a dash of beer. Classic Bavarian and something Mr Carastian thinks a beer should be had over Hugos
