The favorite of the day - beautiful grilled pork that was 'lick your fingers clean' good! So succulent and tasty...

An intriguing little dish... stuffed peppers with crabmeat! At first we were like, "huh?!" but then we were like, "uh YUM!"

This local's only cafe showcases a lovely little menu full of sandwiches, each tasty in it's own right. This one is "mojama", a Spanish delicacy consisting of filleted salt-cured tuna.

Mrs. C's favorite - fresh tuna with avocado spread! Each of these breads were such a delight - made fresh in their tiny little kitchen.

Thinly slice hammy goodness with a savory tomato spread underneath... perfection! Ended our fabulous week's vacation on a very positive and delicious note.

The closest you get to Spanish food here - although a) all on one plate and b) not free. taste wise pretty good, a nice serving of Manchego, Jamon, curried seafood, marinated shrooms, steak salad, olives and goat cheese.

Also a classic - this rendition was flawless. Look at that crispy pork coating, hiding a perfectly succulent fig inside. MORE PLEASE!

Mrs. C's favorite of the night (well... next to dessert, that is!) was this delightful little lentil and veal ragout. Super creamy on the tongue, nicely spiced and way too small a portion.

Very tasty, nicely smoky, thin slices of heaven.

This "Russian Salad" (falsely named as it was mostly just a fancy tuna salad) was tasty, but nothing too amazing.

What an interesting dish... a pork filet topped with a sweet corn paste. Mr. C thought it too sweet and we both agreed it just didn't work. Nice try, fellas, but no.

Monkfish chunks, rife with garlic, nicely cooked and just perfect with a hunk of fresh tomato.

These tasty little sardines with salsa were a total treat - beautiful balance of salt and acid... fresh, fresh, fresh.

oh yes - Mr. & Mrs. Carstian, having a babysitter, sitting in the sun, enjoying some nice cocktails - and were adult enough to put a layer of food in first. fresh sheep cheese, some olives and peppers. lovely. sprinkle some salt, some pepper, some EVOO. perfection.

dates (healthy). serrano (nothing to add...) fried. what is NOT to love?

We didn't make that up...they actually called it tapas on the menu. Obatza, sausages and kraut, meatballs and spicy mustard - not too bad of a sampler! Mr. C even said the meatballs were on par with his Oma's. Bold statement. Now what was the reason for having this? THE POPE hath blessed us with her presence! Joining us for the meal was the vivacious Pope (and Mr. Pope) who was visiting Germany. Great to meet you guys!! and hope you enjoyed your foodcation going forward (SO JEALOUS!!! SOOOO JEALOUS!!!! an you know what we mean.)

Take a delish sweet and chewy date then wrap that sheet in bacon and shove it on a #SCHTIICK!!! Yum.
