AMAZING
1st SHRIMP AND GRITS
The Nest: A Breakfast Joint, Bellflower
Yes! This! So much... Creamy cheddar cheese grits, grilled spicy seasoned shrimp, topped with bacon and green onions. This place is an hour away from our home, but this dish will call me back! Note to self: add crispy bacon to our shrimp and grits at home...it's incredible!
2nd SHRIMP AND GRITS
Bud's Louisiana Café, San Diego
This was my favorite dish! Shrimp sautéed with Creole seasoning in a tomato cream sauce, served over creamy cheese grits infused with Tasso ham. Decadent!
3rd SHRIMP, ANDOUILLE AND GRITS
Louisiana Bistreaux, East Point
Seasoned sautéed shrimp, Andouille and our house special grits in a spicy sauce. The grits are pretty dense but that sauce is amazing and the shrimp and sausage were excellent
4th GRILLED SHRIMP AND PARMESAN GRITS
Malama Pono Restaurant, Los Angeles
Roasted poblano cream and tomato bacon relish. The grits did not eat like grits, they felt more like a sauce, but it was a delicious sauce! This was my favorite dish!
5th SHRIMP N' GRITS
11th and Bay Southern Table, Columbus
Parmesan Speckled Grits, Benton’s Country Ham, Peri Peri Sauce, Buerre Blanc
6th GRITS (SMALL PLATE)
The Nest: A Breakfast Joint, Bellflower
My husband's favorite dish. Creamy and a little sweet. He LOVED it. (But this is MY Eaten account, so my grits dish wins first place!
REALLY GOOD
7th SHRIMP AND GRITS
Another Broken Egg Cafe, Burbank
The grits alone are not as good as the city grits because they aren't as cheesy and therefore have less flavor. Gulf shrimp, andouille, onion and red bell peppers in a spicy low country reduction.
8th SHRIMP AND GRITS
CF Food Kitchen, Los Angeles
The shrimp 🦐 is perfect on this. The grits aren't as cheesy and decadent as I prefer, but they are good.
9th CITY GRITS
Another Broken Egg Cafe, Burbank
Cheesy grits with gruyere, bacon, tomatoes and chives. It was tasty.
10th CATFISH AND GRITS
BlaqHaus NoHo, Los Angeles
Cheddar and parmesan whipped grits with golden fried catfish, topped with a creole style creme sauce made with plum tomatoes, topped with a smokey creole gravy. Catfish would have been too dry on its own, but much better with the grits. Sauce/gravy was very good.
JUST OK
12th SHRIMP AND GRITS
Mardi Gras Tuesday "A Taste Of New Orleans" Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles
Shrimp was pretty good but the grits were not. It said that they were stone ground grits, but it was a dead ringer for cream of wheat.
16th GRITS
Gus's BBQ, Los Angeles
My husband did not like this, but my son and I thought it was ok.
18th JALAPENO CHEDDAR GRITS
Gus's BBQ, Los Angeles
I really didn't taste jalapeno or cheddar in this. Meh.
NOT FOR ME
19th HEIRLOOM CORN GRITS
Barrel and Ashes, Los Angeles
With aged cheddar. Not a winner for us.
