AMAZING
1st FRENCH FRIES
Eagle Park Brewing Company, Milwaukee
Expertly seasoned, perfectly sized to maximize the crunch on the outside versus the fluff on the inside. Savory and not too salty, these have an option to add parmesan, but are great either way!!! An incredible fry!
2nd WAFFLE FRIES
Hot Head Fried Chicken by Crafty Cow, Milwaukee
These fries are exquisite!!! Such a savory seasoning on these with the right level of salty and a perfect crunch, I want five orders of these!
3rd BUFFALO CHICKEN TOTS
Tots on the Street, WI 53045
An amazing potato fritter with chunks of chicken and Buffalo sauce, with a touch of cheese too. Incredibly soft and tender, these are a must grab at any food truck event!
4th WAFFLE FRIES
The Dish Restaurant, Racine
It is remarkable the amount of flavor packed into this $3 box... What a perfectly savory and peppery seasoning, and a perfect crunchy outside with a fluffy potato interior. Purchased at the Franksville Craft Beer Garden's Food Truck Night
5th TATER TOTS
AJ Bombers, Milwaukee
These crispy tots are a crunchy delight, and whatever season they put on these is so savory and addicting. Despite them being a touch too salty, they were so good that I did not care and kept on devouring.
REALLY GOOD
6th WAFFLE FRIES
Chancery Restaurant & Pub, Mequon
Perfect crunch, perfectly seasoned, fluffy insides. This is truly an amazing waffle fry!
7th OG TOTS
Tots on the Street, WI 53045
The original potato fritter for this truck, they’re are filled with a peppery ranch flavor that is very creamy on the inside! Absolutely worth the premium pricetag!
8th POTATO WEDGES
Growlers East Tosa, Wauwatosa
Very good fries!!! Perfectly salted and crispy! Simple but perfect!
9th FRENCH FRIES
AJ Bombers, Milwaukee
Really great fries with the same seasoning as the tater tots, but less overall season. With less going on with the underlying fry, there’s not really a reason for me to recommend these over the tater tots. They are good, but not the best potato option at the venue.
10th WISCONSIN CHEESE CURD TOTS
Tots on the Street, WI 53045
These tasted delightful, as a stuffed tater tot is a really novel idea. A lovely peppery and cheesy inside was super yummy. My complaints about this are purely logistic: there is no cheese curd to be found in these, they are just filled with small bites of cheese and $8 for three cheesy tater tots is... Difficult to justify. Obtained at their food truck at the Night Market in Downtown MKE!
11th BREAKFAST POTATOES
Black Sheep MKE, Milwaukee
Really simple but perfectly executed breakfast potatoes. Lightly salted and seasoned, with a golden brown crunch yet fluffy inside. These made me very happy at a venue brimming with flavor and energy.
PRETTY GOOD
12th FRENCH FRIES
American Family Field, Milwaukee
An authentic brew style fry with the right crunch and flavor, well salted. Fluffy insides, very solid fry with no complaints or incredible achievements here.
13th TATER TOTS
The Brick Pub and Grill, Glendale
Nice crispy tots with the exact amount of salt desired for tots. Standard but executed well.
14th NACHO FRIES
Taco Bell, Saukville
While the fries are a bit inconsistently seasoned and crisped, the seasoning is very good and the nacho cheese dipping sauce drives these to a different level with an added level of heat and flavor.
15th CHEESY FIESTA POTATOES
Taco Bell, Saukville
A crispy and seasoned diced potato with nacho cheese sauce = simple, fast, and effectively tasty. So good for such a small package!
16th FRENCH FRIES
Wonderland, Milwaukee
Fries were inconsistently seasoned, but the salt and pepper seasoning was good when it was on a fry. Otherwise, these fries were reminiscent of sad fast food fries, albeit without the sog.
17th CHEESE STUFFED SPUDS
Kwik Trip, Mequon
A convenient and poppable little cheesy potato fritter! A touch of crunch in the breading as well makes this a worthy grab!
18th FRENCH FRIES
Oak Barrel Public House, Milwaukee
A really solid brewpub style french fry typical of Wisconsin joints, especially for Friday night fish frys. Nothing extravagant, but flavorful enough to want to be finished.
19th WAFFLE FRIES
Tiny Tapp, Chicago
Really hit or miss depending on how much or little seasoning they got. They have the right crunch, but some definitely leave some flavor to be desired.
20th FRENCH FRIES
Blue Moon Brewing Company, Denver
Odd fries that work out in the end: they are not properly beer battered as advertised, as they have few spots of such batter. This is further evidenced by them being seasoned: a battered fry isn't traditionally externally seasoned. Despite the semantic complaints, the fries tasted really great with the combination of both. A great balance of external crunch with internal fluff.
21st SIDEWINDER FRIES
Inventors Brewpub, Port Washington
Potato wedge-esque that lacked a consistency of crunch or sog. More seasoning would have been desired for these instead of turning them into ketchup shovels. Good, but not great.
JUST OK
22nd STILLERY FRIES
The Stillery - Grafton, Grafton
These fries were nice and crispy, but really lacked flavor and seasoning. These turned into ketchup shovels fast.
23rd FRENCH FRIES
Water Street Brewery, Grafton
Needed a bit more seasoning on these. Very okay. Nice crisp at least. Not much to say otherwise.
24th FRENCH FRIES
Foxtown Brewing, Mequon
Very standard fry-fare. Nothing special, perfectly fine, nicely salted. Can’t go wrong, but nothing to go out of the way for.
25th FRENCH FRIES
Café Hollander Mequon, Mequon
These may be the world's "okayest" fries. They're not good. They're not bad. They're okay. Lightly salted but not enough. Crispy in places, soggy in others. Fries to eat because they're there, not because they're to be enjoyed.
NOT FOR ME
26th CURRY FRIES
Good City Mequon Public Market, Mequon
The curry seasoning did nothing for these fries... All it left me with was a dry dust feeling in my mouth from the curry powder, yellow fingers, and wasted caloric intake.
27th FRENCH FRIES
Skippy's Burger Bar, Thiensville
Soulless, saltless, and way overdone. These were harder than a waffle cone… truly shocked to see how poorly a French fry could be messed up. A new low.
