REALLY GOOD
1st BABY SQUID
The Naked Finn, Singapore
Grilled baby squid in grapeseed oil. So simple but done so well. Loved the crispy bits.
2nd PESCADO A LA TALLA
Contramar, Ciudad de México
House specialty of grilled whole snapper, covered in half red chili adobo rub & half parsley rub. I preferred the parsley rub, the fish was perfectly grilled, retaining all its juices beneath the perfectly charred exterior.
3rd CAMARONES A LA DIABLA
Marisquería el K-Guamo 🐢, Ciudad de México
Prawns in a spicy mexican sauce. The sauce was piquant and the spice level just right. Good recommendation from the server.
4th BLACKENED OCTOPUS
La Sirena Gorda, San Miguel de Allende
Best dish we tried here. Octopus grilled till blackened, charred & smoky while retaining its juices. None of that rubberiness.
6th SPICY SEAFOOD STEW
Los Mercaderes, La Habana
This was supposedly very spicy, but it was barely tingling to my Asian tastebuds. Still it was fairly tasty, with lots of lobster, shrimp & fish.
JUST OK
7th CHILI CRAB
New Ubin CHIJMES, Singapore
This was supposed to be the highlight of dinner but sadly fell short. Had better versions elsewhere. My verdict: skip the CHIJMES branch and go to their non-touristy location instead.
8th SALTED EGG SQUID
New Ubin CHIJMES, Singapore
Trying the CHIJMES branch for the first time. Squid boiled and lathered with salted egg yolk sauce. It used to be fried in the sauce which was more flavorful. Not as good as before.
9th SHRIMP AGUACHILES
Baja Fish Taquito, San Miguel de Allende
Ordered it as it seemed similar to ceviche, but the shrimp was too raw for my liking.
