REALLY GOOD
1st COUVERT
Varanda do Alentejo, Marvão
No need for a starter when the couvert is this good; regional bread, garlic butter two types of cured meat and local cheese, lovely
2nd COUVERT
Avenida, Tavira
More interesting take on the normal olive intro, with garlic, carrot and parsley
3rd CHEESE FRITTERS
Konaki, Thessaloniki
Not the healthiest lunchtime snack but seriously good, freshly made and very moreish
4th ASSORTED STARTERS
Lucky Seven, Yangon
Great value tasty fast food
5th ANTIPASTI SUPREMO
Osteria dei Sapori Perduti, Modica
Great selection; bread was delicious and the caponata excellent. Not sure if the Sicilian name for the fish like tortilla with peas but it was great. Arancini superb.
6th MIXED APPETIZERS
Ristorante Pizzeria La Perla, Trapani
One of the best mixed platters I’ve ever had. Great selection of meat, fish and veggie items. I am not a great veggie fan but The caponata was sublime and if it were this good in the UK I’d consider going veggie!
