The first time I had a Fatburger was in Vegas, in 2001; the freshness and tastiness certainly struck a chord - do remember this vividly! Now, for only the second time, I had the Single (Original) with cheese and must say the burger is still ’phat’! Probably not as good as modern gourmet ones but certainly superior to the ones by the usual suspects - enjoyed it! These were rated as ‘Amazing’ - given the thumbs up by my nephews! Took out the Chopped Cherry Peppers and put in some sliced tomatoes. A decent burger all round, a tad reminiscent of a Wendy’s, probably because of the brioche-style bun. The patty was tasty but a little dry. The crinkle-cut fries came hot, crisp and salted - nice! Also, tried the All-Beef Hot Dog which was pretty good, but needed the usual ketchup and mustard ‘go-along’! Liked it all! This is a beef ‘bacon’ wrapped cheeseburger in a charcoal bun, known as a ‘Juicy Lucy’. A juicy burger it was, and pretty tasty too. However, as burgers go, didn’t quite pack a punch! A decent burger to be found on Nusa Penida. With egg, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, cheese, egg and beef pattie!

The ‘Spades’ burger consists of a choice of a pork or beef patty, cheddar slice, bacon strip and Spade’s sauce (ok… a bit of lettuce and tomatoes too!). Went with the beef and it was a miserly patty in a rather chunky charcoal bun, rather poorly balanced as a whole. It certainly needed the help of the cheese and the bacon! Other than that, a tasty enough burger (However, I can’t quite understand the fascination with charcoal buns for speciality burgers in Malaysia - it’s not necessary!). And I’ll pass on comment about the Spade sauce (this isn’t implying the sauce was poor). No rush to return. #burgers #beef #artisan
