AMAZING
1st SARAWAK LAKSA
Simooon’s Slurp Shop, Private
This dish was made on the basis of trying out a different brand of Sarawak Laksa Paste; one which is made with fresh ingredients and recommended by a friend from Kuching. And this paste is good! It certainly didn’t disappoint. The laksa soup combination of the paste, chicken stock, coconut milk and seasoning resulted in a marvellous fusion, that was rustic, rich and natural in flavour! This dish is divine - must learn to make the paste from scratch! It’s worth the sweat! IMO, this is easily the best of all the Laksa varieties. If you have never tried it... do! #noodles #laksa >> A day on and another bowl... have to elevate this to ‘Amazing’! Devoured it feverishly!
2nd KHAO SOI MU KROP
ICONSIAM shopping mall, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon
Khao Soi is northern Indochinese dish and has been on the ‘want to try list’ for awhile. So, since it’s Thailand, the Thai version was sought (despite not being up Chiang Mai way)! Found it at the new IconSiam, where they have literally brought street vendors in to serve up Thailand’s rich food varieties. Also, as part of a street food revival, many true, some famed, vendors are set-up in shopping centres around Bangkok. It’s comfortable, convenient and only for us, consumers, to pay mall prices! This Thai Khao Soi is a laksa/curry noodle and is traditionally served with beef or chicken, however, the Mu Krop is with roast pork and crackling. Served with the broad yellow noodles; this dish is near divine with a wonderful curry soup, rich in coconut milk, velvety in texture and not too spicy to knock out the taste buds! Garnished with coriander, bean sprouts, raw white cabbage, red onions and pickled mustard greens. Yes, have certainly been enamoured by this dish! Hot damn, I am a fan! #noodles #curry #laksa
4th CURRY LAKSA WITH ROAST PORK
Triple Happiness by My Little Herbal Tea, Petaling Jaya
A hearty bowl of curry noodles, thick stock and no MSG! A decent portion of roast pork too! Go get some… I will again, and again, and again… #laksa #currylaksa #curry #currynoodles #yumyum #pork #roastpork #porkalicious
5th CURRY LAKSA
Plaza Premium lounge @ KLIA T1 Contact Pier G, Sepang
Wow! KLIA’s Premium Lounge serving up a delightful curry laksa… simple but really tasty! With a good hearty stock! So good, I went back for seconds! (Note 1st bowl in the background! 😆) #laksa #curry #noodles #klia #malaysia #laksanoodles
PRETTY GOOD
7th CURRY LAKSA
Yi Cheng Coffeeshop, Malaysia
A decent bowl of curry noodles. A good portion too. Chicken, char siew, fried tofu, hard-boiled egg, bean sprouts and noodles. #noodles #curry #laksa #hearty
8th CURRY LAKSA
Restoran Koon Kee, Petaling Jaya
This dish is from a stall at the Damansara (Uptown) Koon Kee Wanton Noodle Shop - with a tasty thick mild curry soup and good-size pieces of chicken. Hearty for lunch, good! #noodles #curry
9th CURRY LAKSA WITH DUMPLINGS
Restoran Good Taste (Bukit Tinggi Branch), Klang
Good Taste is a good place for Wonton Noodles. But what about the rest? Came to try out the Curry Noodles (Laksa)... and decided on the Dumpling Curry Noodles, which consisted of yellow wanton egg noodles, bean sprouts, Sui Kow (Water Dog) for dumplings and curry soup - and that’s it! The soup was flavourful with a nice curry taste, albeit a little watered down. The noodles were firm, fresh and tasty. The Sui Kows were alright. If one’s there solely for the noodles and the curry soup, that would make it a fine dish - tasteful! However, as a whole, it was okay, as it could have done with more substance! More toppings and garnish, please! And with a lack of ingredients, one could say the dish was a little dear! #curry #noodles #laksa
10th CURRY LAKSA WITH WONTON EGG NOODLES
Restoran Gang Kou Laksa, Pelabuhan Klang
This dish, at G’ang Kow (‘Port Klang’ in the Fukien dialect) coffeeshop, is a combination of Curry Laksa soup and Wanton Egg noodles. It was topped with half a hard-boiled egg, barbecue pork, fishcake, tofu and cockles. What makes this dish enticing is the taste fusion of the these noodles and this soup; every bit as good as the pairing of tofu with this such soup. The noodles & soup were adequately firm and dense respectively - the overall taste was decent! The toppings weren’t anything to rave about, but... Hey! In this case, it’s about the noodles & the soup! Curry Laksa with Wanton Egg Noodles... they’re a good match! #curry #noodles
11th CURRY LAKSA
Klang Cathay Laksa Klang, Klang
This noodle stall is supposedly a continuation of a long-lost one which knew when I was young. Although the soup tastes somewhat familiar, it seems that it has become less bold over the years. Nevertheless, it is still an adequate bowl of noodles; served with pieces of chicken, cockles, tofu, bean sprouts and a segment of boiled egg. As they say in Malaysia, “Can do-lah!” #noodles #curry
JUST OK
