The culmination of a recent haul from Little Thailand, including a big ass terracotta mortar and pestle designed for whipping up som tam. Pounding everything together ain’t that hard if you’re looking to vent but the prep can be a bit of a pain because so many ingredients are involved. Enjoyed with a pot of steamed sticky rice.

Can’t really go wrong with this.

It tastes nothing like som tam as many of us know it (maybe because yours truly didn’t think to drizzle the “dip” over the fritters). But it’s fried, and it’s tasty. 😋
