Finally expanding my bagel horizons. This combination is definitely worth returning for.

These are quite a bit thinner than I expect but I vaguely remember the cinnamon-raisin variety looking somewhat different than regular bagels at bagel shoppes. Then again, they weren’t quite so skinny, so maybe next time I’ll take them out of the fridge to proof a bit more before dunking in boiling water? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Nevertheless, they’re tasty and texturally they work, with their crisp outsides and chewy insides that don’t necessarily break your jaw. Happy National Bagel Day!

Had my first purple sweet potato bagel today at Palates & Bagels — and I was pleasantly surprised that the sweet potato flavor truly came through. But I wasn’t entirely sold on the mochi element as it wasn’t quite as chewy as I’d expected. 🤔

The schmear was butter 😳

They delivered on the promise of cinnamon-y and crunchy but alas, the sugar in the crust burned in the oven, resulting in an unpleasantly charred exterior. Perhaps, a shorter bake time in the future? 🤔
