Shrove Tuesday uses a yeast raised batter that allows CO2 released during fermentation to fluff up the batter. This means a light and crispy waffle which it was indeed.
I haven’t had this in what feels like forever and eating this with a mask under my chin “maskhole-style” gave me a chocolate beard. It makes me wonder again why people have beards???
The fragrance of the waffles cooking in their irons was impossible to resist! The peanut butter made it even better. I think there was pandan in the batter too.
Tried the chocolate-flaked almond combination this time and still prefer the chocolate-peanut butter combo. Also, their prices have soared since I was here last.
