AMAZING
1st FRIED CALAMARI
Captain Bill's Oyster Bar, Treasure Island
Tender calamari rings & tentacles were fried to perfection, but the real star of this appetizer is the house made pesto. Fan-freaking-tastic! The house marinara was great too, but I still dream of that herbalicios pesto. The chef came out a couple of times to check on tables too. I love that.
2nd CALAMARI
Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant, Town and Country
Fried calamari with sweet chili glaze & spicy mayo. Seriously addicting!
2nd CALAMARI
Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant, Town and Country
Kind of like bang bang shrimp, but with squid. Outstanding!
4th CALAMARI FRITTI
Budweiser Brew House, St. Louis
Actually, pretty great! 3 dipping sauces too. Go Cards! This Brew House is at Ballpark Village at Busch Stadium. Watching the game now... Fireworks & a band afterwards! :)
REALLY GOOD
5th THAI CALAMARI
Ramen Tei, Ballwin
Cilantro seared calamari, Thai chilies, Swiss chard & red apple slaw in a light ponzu. Oishi!!
6th CALAMARI FRITTI
Spiro's St. Charles, Saint Charles
Good with some salt and a squeeze of lemon.
8th CALAMARI FRITTI
Favazza's, St. Louis
Fresh calamari hand breaded & deep fried. Served with lemons & thick marinara. They are generous with the tentacle pieces... My fave!! #yum
9th FRIED CALAMARI
Erio's Ristorante, St. Peters
Fried calamari with garlic butter to dip.
10th CALAMARI FRITTI
Filippo's Italian Kitchen & Bar, Chesterfield
Another great calamari. Twice in one week! Lucky me! :)
11th CALAMARI FRITTI
Erio's Ristorante, St. Peters
Served with marinara normally, but I asked for scampi butter instead. Awesome.
12th CRISPY CALAMARI
FD's Grillhouse, Springfield
The calamari was good but could’ve been a little crunchier and the marinara was surprisingly fresh and simply done and very good.
13th CALAMARI
Mama’s On The Hill, St. Louis
Calamari with lemon caper aioli and marinara for dipping. I liked the added pepperoncini rings, Parmesan cheese & lemons. They were delicious, however, a few were not cooked enough & the breading was a bit doughy inside:
