AMAZING
1st TOM KHA GAI
Viet-Thai St Peters, St. Peters
Coconut chicken soup. SO good with chunks of lemongrass, cilantro & ginger.
3rd LOBSTER BISQUE
Bristol Seafood Grill, O'Fallon
Big chunks of lobster, and lots of them!
4th FRENCH ONION SOUP
La Belle Vie / The Cafe at Frenchtown, Saint Charles
Amazing and very much like the department store Famous Barr’s version. Excellent!
REALLY GOOD
6th FIVE ONION SOUP
EdgeWild Restaurant & Winery, Chesterfield
Caramelized Vidalia, red and yellow onions, with shallots and leeks in a deep beef broth, gratinéed with gouda. SO delicious with deep umami flavor! 10/10
9th CHICKEN TORTILLA SOUP
El Agave, Saint Charles
Definitely hit the spot on this rainy chilly day. The first of the Fall...
10th HOUSE SOUP
YaYas Euro Bistro in Chesterfield, Chesterfield
Their house soup., Not your average tomato soup, so much more.Smoked chicken, tomato broth, roasted vegetables and saffron orzo. Yia Yia's recently changed the spelling of their name to Ya Ya's. Don't know why...
13th TOM KHA GAI
Bhann Thai, Earth City
Coconut soup with mini corn, carrots, napa cabbage, celery, chicken and cilantro.
15th TOMATO SOUP
Druff's, Springfield
This is a really good and flavorful tomato soup. I ordered the “dipper” which was only $1 to dip my sandwich in. They also have a cup for $3 and a bowl for $6.
PRETTY GOOD
16th "FAMOUS BARR" FRENCH ONION SOUP
Circa Pub & Grill, Des Peres
Very good French onion soup, but not exactly like the old FB soup. The onions were sliced too long, which made it difficult to eat. They need bigger spoons or smaller onions.
JUST OK
17th TOM YUM SOUP
Viet-Thai St Peters, St. Peters
I tried something new. No likey. Too sour, salty & funky. Eww. I’m sure it’s great if you like that sort of thing, but it just wasn’t for me. They happily replaced it. Love this restaurant!
18th LOBSTER BISQUE
BRIO Tuscan Grille, St. Louis
This was just OK. It was very cheesy. Nice chunks of lobster garnished the top.
NOT FOR ME
19th LOBSTER BISQUE
Red Lobster, St. Peters
I used to love their lobster bisque. I think they change the recipe. It tasted more like beer cheese soup with a few pieces of lobster floating on top. I actually sent it back.
20th LOBSTER BISQUE
McGurk's Public House, O'Fallon
Salty. Fishy. Luke warm. Be warned.
