AMAZING
1st BEER BATTERED FISH AND CHIPS
George & Dragon, Speldhurst
Proper fancy cod and chips with mushy peas, and both tartare and curry sauce. Fish was a reasonable size portion and the chips were amazing - perfect balance of being chunky, fluffy in the centre but really crispy on the exterior for a truly satisfying bite. If anything they felt more like long roast potatoes. Top notch dish.
2nd HADDOCK AND CHIPS
Murgatroyds, Yeadon
A huge unit of a haddock and chips called the Billy Murg special. Feeds an army... šŸ˜‹
3rd FISH AND CHIPS
Coopers Catch, Kaikoura
Beautifully battered blue cod, caught locally, with half a scoop of chunky but nicely crisp chips. Top stuff. šŸ‘
REALLY GOOD
4th FISH AND CHIPS
Customs House Hotel Restaurant, Hobart
Might have been because I was the last order before the kitchen shut, but the fish in my beer battered fish and chips resembles XL-sized goujons. Tasty though so no complaints!
PRETTY GOOD
5th FISH AND CHIPS
Apollo Bay Seafood Cafe, Apollo Bay
Crispy and not greasy but something didn't feel too fresh about it.
JUST OK
6th FISH AND CHIPS
The Black Prince, Woodstock
So-so fish and chips overall. Mushy peas aren't really my bag, but this portion felt small as well.
