AMAZING
1st EFES SPECIAL 2
Efes Turkish Restaurant, London
Starting with bread, hummus, saksuka, cacik, russian salad and tabbouleh, which is then followed with a big platter with a selection of Lamb Shish, Chicken Shish, Adana Kofte, Chicken Wings, Lamb Ribs and Lamb Chops on a bed of Lamb & Chicken Donner, Rice and Couscous. All the meat was cooked perfectly and seasoned excellently. It was very tasty and indulgent. A must get if you are going to Efes
REALLY GOOD
2nd MIX GRILL
Levant, London
The mix grill at Levant contained lamb kofta, lamb cutlet (diced) and chicken taouk served on a bed of organic vermicelli rice with a side of salad. All the lambs were juicy and tender, the chicken was slightly dry but was seasoned perfectly so the taste was on point. The rice was nice and fragrant with the salad providing the much needed acidity when you have a giant dish of meat in front of you. Highly recommend.
PRETTY GOOD
3rd MIXED GRILL
The Horseshoes Country Pub & Dining Room, Waltham Abbey
The mixed grill was large in portion size and contained 2 lamb chops,a steak, 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon, 2 halved tomatoes, 2 portobello mushrooms and a handful of salad greens. Unfortunately I got my steak well done even though I asked for a medium rare but this is not the fault of the restaurant as we did take extra time with our starters (someone had greedily ordered 3 starters and was SLOWLY going through it)
JUST OK
4th MIXED GRILL
The Amesbury Archer, Amesbury
An ok mixed grill from a service station Harvester. The steak was dry and tasteless, the rotisserie chicken was slightly dry but had a lot of flavour from the herbs and the sausage was standard. The gammon steak (hidden under the egg) was the star of amongst the meats as it was tender, not dry at all and was flavorful. But unfortunately the most memorable thing on that plate for the mushroom... Says it all really...
