AMAZING
1st WWIII BUFFALO WINGS
Double Dub’s MKE, WI 53202
What a great buffalo sauce with a great amount of heat! Salty, spicy, and acidic, these wings cleared the sinuses and were incredibly crispy to boot!!! A masterful wing!
2nd BUFFALO WINGS
Backlot Pizza + Kitchen, Glendale
Massive wings with a ton of tender chicken on the bones, a light golden crisp, and a thin but flavorful mild buffalo sauce. These are truly all you can ask for out of a wing!
3rd BUFFALO CHICKEN TENDERS
Culver’s, Mequon
Incredibly juicy and tender chicken with a wonderfully crunchy breading of buffalo spices and black pepper. There's a reason there was public uproar when they were off the menu for over a year after the pandemic! Rejoice and partake in these EXCELLENT slabs of fried chicken! Note: placed in the "Wings" category solely for organizational purposes, as I do not see any difference between a chicken tender and a boneless wing (see: chicken fritter). All three will be grouped together for me.
REALLY GOOD
4th BUFFALO CHICKEN ROLLERBITE
Kwik Trip, Mequon
A great crunchy breading loaded with Buffalo seasoning, these chicken logs deliver with a molten cheesy interior and a flavorful season! A must grab for Buffalo lovers!
PRETTY GOOD
5th BUFFALO WINGS
Milwaukee Brat House, Milwaukee
Crispy wings sauced with the house buffalo sauce, these wings had a pretty good buffalo flavor. However, they were a touch too salty and the sauce had something slightly off about it relative to other buffalo sauces. It wasn’t bad per se, just notably different in flavor. Very juicy and tender chicken though!
6th BUFFALO WINGS
The Explorium Brewpub Third Ward, Milwaukee
A juicy and tender wing on the inside. A crispy crust on the outside. A nice buffalo sauce with a good balance of heat and acidity. My biggest complaint is that these did not have enough of the sauce. The sauce was great, but I was cleaning the bowl trying to get every last drop due to the overall lack of it.
7th MEDIUM NAKED WINGS
White Rabbit Bar and Grill, Mequon
A perfect golden crisp with the perfect amount of saltiness. The sauce was unfortunately missing the heat and flavor I'd expect from a medium buffalo sauce. These would be exquisite with a better sauce.
8th BONELESS BUFFALO WINGS
Kwik Trip, Mequon
Tender chicken fritters with a salty buffalo sauce, albeit a bit thin and muted in flavor. The breading has good flavor but an inconsistent crunch. Worth a grab in a pinch.
9th JERK DRY RUB WINGS
The Explorium Brewpub Third Ward, Milwaukee
A very herbaceous and salty seasoning, these were good but lacking some complexity. The chicken was nice and tender, but overall this seasoning just missed the mark a little bit. It did seem to taste better the more I ate.
10th MONTEREY JACK ROLLERBITE
Kwik Trip, Mequon
A simple log of chicken stuffed with cheese, very tender, tasty, and convenient when on the go!
11th CHICKEN TENDERS
American Family Field, Milwaukee
Juicy tenders with a nice salty breading, albeit not doing anything crazy one way or another.
JUST OK
12th HOT BUFFALO WINGS
Spanky's Hideaway, Mequon
Sauce was a higher concentration of acid than usual, taking away from the spice/flavor I’d like. Chicken was REALLY salty on the exterior. Very good and flavorful crisp on the exterior though. Nice 60 cent wing special on Tuesdays for the size of the wings!
13th GARLIC BUFFALO WINGS
Growlers East Tosa, Wauwatosa
No true sense of a garlic flavor here. Buffalo was solid quality, but chicken was overcooked. I did not appreciate the wings being placed on top of the blue cheese and vegetable salad, as I was then forced to eat the blue cheese that I did not desire to. Should've been presented separately.
NOT FOR ME
14th CHICKEN TENDERS
Water Street Brewery, Grafton
A dense and unseasoned breading makes me question why they even bothered breading it in the first place. Pretty tough cut of chicken too. Needed lots of dipping sauce to get it down. Quite disappointing.
