AMAZING
1st DESSERT PLATTER
The Ivy Asia St Paul's, London
The photo does not do justice to this towering temple of desserty goodness. Those donuts! Hot off the press with some kind of mango yuzu filling and custardy coconut dipping sauce! Delicious ice creams, some kind of pannacotta, a bitter dark chocolate thing, more tropical fruits than you can shake a fist at. Delicious!!
REALLY GOOD
2nd HOUSE SHARER DESSERT PLATTER
The Tudor Rose, Coulsdon
Eton Mess (or Elton Metz, as my phone just suggested): delicious, light and not too sweet (which IMO is an accomplishment, I never order Eton Mess as I always find it too sweet) Brownie: rich, chocolatey - more cakey than fudgy though; so depends on what style of Brownie you like. Icecream sandwich: Not a great option for a sharing platter IMO - how do you share it? We ended up taking 1 cookie each (so it’s no longer a “sandwich” - I also found the cookies a bit hard for this purpose, it means it’s difficult to eat with a spoon and difficult to eat with your hands (if you were going sandwich style) - for me this was the weakest link Baked cheesecake - pleasant, not overly sweet, Berry coulis was bright and tangy; a slight grit to the base, I would have enjoyed more texture.
