REALLY GOOD
1st FALAFEL
Falafel's Drive In, San Jose
An absolute San Jose institution since 1966, still family run, still serving up some damn fine falafel (which was actually the first item on the menu when they opened! Burgers and other items were added later.) So you join the long queue (and on this day it was 20 people deep in the 110 degree scorching heat), place your order at the window, take your slip and sit to wait for your number to be called. Classic is the falafel (with it's spicy red sauce) paired with a creamy banana milkshake. Amazing!
JUST OK
2nd FALAFEL
Maxlrain, Tuntenhausen
Nothing makes a sword fight more exciting and fun then FALAFEL! Ok.. maybe having someone next to you get skewered by mistake... but with play acting that didn't happen. Ye Old Falafel stand was pretty funny with it's "Treats from the Far East" sign - however we saw them tossing a brunch of frozen vegetables in to a giant wok for the curry. Yuck. Falafel was solid however their choice of asian sweet sour sauce was bizarre and ruined the whole thing. Oh well... sword fight was good!
3rd FALAFEL ON TOMATO COULIS
Dinzler Kaffeerösterei AG, Irschenberg
Mr. C utterly shocked all with his choice... falafel. In a Bavarian restaurant! For reals? What was he thinking... ;*) Of course they were not that great, way too dense and drowning in this weird sauce. The whole dish was a mess. Thank heavens he also ordered that salad!
