AMAZING
1st CRAB CAKE BENEDICT
ROAST coffee & eatery, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon
Served with potato rosti, onion jam and grilled veggies. No words to describe this except perfection. PERFECTION!
2nd HUEVOS RANCHEROS
ROAST coffee & eatery, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon
Baked eggs with tomatoes and chorizo and a side of tortilla. This had a bit of heat to kick things up a notch. Very addictive and hearty!
3rd TURKISH STYLE EGGS
VCR, Kuala Lumpur
Rich tomato sauce with chickpeas, chicken chipolata, spinach, Greek yoghurt, toasted pistachio, 63 degree Celsius free range eggs. Served with a slice of sourdough toast. Those chickpeas were perfectly done, not too hard, yet not mushy. All the flavours went well together and those eggs, oh those eggs! Fan-freaking-tastic.
REALLY GOOD
4th OTTOMAN EGGS
lola bySeraiGroup, Kuala Lumpur
“Poached eggs with creamy yoghurt, grilled sumac spiced lamb mince, automatic burnt nutty spiced butter served with crusted sourdough”
5th OEUF LA PUTE
Flakes (The Hub SS2), Petaling Jaya
“Scrambled eggs served with a croissant, onion confit, melty cheddar cheese, smoked paprika aioli and sin.” I don’t know about the sin part but everything else was so good together. Minus those pesky green things on the side, of course.
6th CHAWANMUSHI
Sushiya One Utama, Petaling Jaya
Don’t be fooled by its rather plain appearance. This steamed egg custard is anything but plain. Silky smooth and packed full of flavour, you will want to just sit back and savour every spoonful.
7th SALMON, AVOCADO & MANGO
Mr. & Ms. Cafe, Petaling Jaya
Smoked salmon, diced avocado and mango, crispy potato hash, poached eggs, bed of baby spinach and rocket, with baguette and hollandaise. I liked the contrasts in flavours and textures here, although some diners might find the hot and cold combination a little confusing. Would reorder.
8th PORTOBELLO, CHICKEN & EGGS
Mr. & Ms. Cafe, Petaling Jaya
Fried portobello and chicken tenders, caramelized onions, baby spinach, fried egg, baguette, served with lemon thyme cream. Nice brunch dish!
9th CRUMBED EGG TOAST
Blue Dye Cafe, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon
Crumbed eggs, spinach and cream cheese mustard. I mean... why just have poached eggs when you can have deep fried poached eggs? The only minor issue I had with this was I wish the eggs were just a touch less cooked. A more runny yolk would have been perfect!
10th SPANISH BAKED EGGS
The Midnight Baker, Kuala Lumpur
Lovely! Just so vibrant and tomato-ey. The garlic bread that came with the eggs was good too.
PRETTY GOOD
11th ITALIAN BAKED EGGS
Tray Cafe, Kuala Lumpur
“Creamy Italian baked ‘kampung’ eggs with mushroom. Served with toast.” Would have preferred this slightly more tart and less sweet, but overall still quite satisfying. Bread is good so that’s a plus point.
