REALLY GOOD
1st TAN-MEN CHAR SIU RAMEN
Marutama Ramen, Subang Jaya
A good hearty Chicken stock for the base of this dish. Topped with 7 Vegetables (Choy sum, Carrot, Cabbage, Bean Sprouts, Black Fungus, Mange Tout and Spring Onion) and Japanese-style Char Siu. The Char Siu was soft and tasty too. Quite the salubrious bowl! #noodles #ramen #vegetables #pork
2nd SPICY NAMA KARASHI RAMEN
Marutama Ramen, Subang Jaya
Dad had this, he ate it up with gusto: unusually! Must have been really good! Char siu slice, seaweed, spring onions, noodles and chicken broth! And a little ‘piccante’, but the man likes it spicy! Slurp! #noodles #ramen #japanese #delicious
3rd NAMA KARASHI RAMEN
Marutama Ramen, Subang Jaya
Managed to try it, and wasn’t disappointed! Chicken broth, char siu slice, seaweed, spring onions and ramen. Simple and gratifying #ramen #noodles #japanese #soup
4th TAN MEN RAMEN
Marutama Ramen, Subang Jaya
Revisited an old ramen haunt which has since reinvented itself into a pork-free eatery. Took on the ‘vegetarian’ Tan Men, which was backed by the good hearty Chicken stock for the base of this dish. Topped with 7 Vegetables (Choy sum, Carrot, Cabbage, Bean Sprouts, Black Fungus, Mange Tout and Spring Onion). It may not be authentically Japanese, but still a delectable, salubrious bowl! #noodles #ramen #vegetables
PRETTY GOOD
5th TAMAGO SHOYU RAMEN
, Singapore
The dish was appetising. The Chijiremen ramen noodles were firm, wavy and dainty. Accompanied with tasty toppings of tamago (2 types - the Onsen yolk was delightful, rich and yummy; lightly cooked on the outside and mostly runny on the inside), cha shu, menma and a flavourful full-bodied Shoyu broth. Enjoyable! Do like a Shoyu broth. #ramen #noodles Another chain of ramen eateries quite deserving of some commendation! So, one found SO @ Sō!
6th AKAMARU MODERN RAMEN
Ippudo @ Sunway Pyramid, Malaysia
Ippudo is a chain of Ramen eateries (you know that!) and I’m a cynic when it comes to posting about anything that relates to ‘chains’. However, this was a little above-average and thus worth a mention - ‘Credit, where credit is due’! This was the ‘Akamaru Special’, a modern Hakata-style ramen. The soup was made with the Tonkotsu broth (Ippudo’s version), a blended Miso paste and garlic oil. Served with thin yellow noodles, pork loin & belly, salted soft-boiled egg, black fungus, seaweed, bean sprouts and spring onions. (Yes, I read the menu and took the details! ;p). As a whole, the noodles were as ordered (firm), the broth was flavourful (though could have been hotter), and the toppings were tasty! Nice. Domo arigato gosai mas! #noodles #ramen
7th KURO RAMEN
IPPUDO Bangsar Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur
Another round at Ippudo... This was the ‘Ippudo Kuro’, thick chewy noodles with barbecued pork, flavoured black fungus, spring onions, bean sprouts served in a spicy blended miso paste, fragrant garlic oil and black pepper soup. (Again, I read the menu and took the details! ;p). The noodles were as described, and quite delicious. The broth had flavour and some zing! The toppings were tasty enough! Overall, it was pretty exhilarating for a straightforward bowl of noodles! 満足 Domo arigato gosai mas! #noodles #ramen
8th AKAMARU SHINAJI RAMEN
Ippudo Express T2 Changi Singapore, 9X5V+G3H Singapore
Pretty good for airport meals. Small portion, big prices. #ramen #noodles #japanese #changi #singapore
9th LOBSTER BROTH RAMEN
Ramen Keisuke Singapore | Ginza Tendon Itsuki, Singapore
Pretty good! Went with the ‘strong’ broth option, indeed with a good lobster flavour. However, too salty… and with flavour enhancers! The noodles were cooked to the requested ‘normal’ texture. Accompanied with Japanese-style char siu, menma, cloud ear fungus, and condiments. #ramen #noodle #japanese #soup #lobster
