Wow! This is comfort food at it’s best! I was walking down the street when I came across a blackboard sign that said FREE FOOD.” Of course I had to go inside. On the table there was a spread of fingerling potatoes, honey crisp apples, shallots & all manner of food. The very nice person there explained that the restaurant was closing temporarily during this pandemic & they didn’t want the food they had left to go to waste! I am so grateful that not only did I get some of the above items named, but I was given a large portion of pasta with pesto, some French smoked ocean trout spread (yum that was great on a toasted bagel), &.a large portion of the above dish, which was so good & so comforting during this difficult time. It was the happiest I’d been in a couple of weeks! It reminded me of the southern Italian restaurant my brother & I used to go to in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, where we grew up.
