Dry Wonton Noodles With Char Siew @ Koon Kee Wan Tan Mee
DRY WONTON NOODLES WITH CHAR SIEW
Koon Kee Wan Tan Mee, Kuala Lumpur
This is the original Koon Kee and it is on Hang Lekir Street (formerly Cecil St.). The place is just off KL’s famous (and infamous) Petaling St. and is normally obscured by a line of street vendors. It has been around for a very long time and is famed for the firmness of its own-made noodles. For a period of time, it went through a dip in standards, but with the return of the (prodigal) son of the founder, it has restored some semblance of past glories. These noodles were served dry (through a process of tossing them in a bowl of sauces & oils until throughly coated). It was topped with barbecue pork that had a sweetish glaze. The noodles were firm and flavourful, with the pork tender and tasty - highly satisfying! Could eat heaps, but that might mean joining Weight Watchers! Hoho! These noodles bring a moment of nostalgia! ‘Want More Wonton Noodles!’ #noodles #wtn #wtm #gimmemore #porkalicious
